Morning run in Navarre Beach.
Even though most of my gardening supplies will be shipped to Colorado this June, I couldn't help myself -- it's not spring without planting SOMETHING. Besides, for the first time since moving here, I have some outstanding, perfect compost that will not be able to move with us. From left to right: yellow squash, Big Boy tomatoes, and assorted herbs. The herbs on the far right survived the winter: rosemary, sage, chives and curly parsley.

This is something that I've struggled with in the past. It's considered "in poor taste" if you don't have a goody-bag, but what creative alternatives have you seen?
Birthday Week: Ban the Junk Goody Bags » GeekMom

Our house is across the street from a park. Over the years we’ve seen some whoppers of birthday parties out there, with people bringing in pony rides, bouncy houses, and trains. Seriously. And at every birthday party, there is a table topped with shiny goody bags stuffed full of crap.
I couldn't have ranted about this any better myself...and I certainly couldn't have come up with the alternate version. They might have been able to add a touch of compassion about this, such as "Mommy's getting her nose reconstruction after her car accident..."

Oh my god! I was so scared coming to read this entry, as I was afraid you would be recommending the book. This is horrible :( I think that most women who get cosmetic surgery do not realise that there is any other way to be and will poison their kids with or without the book. Thanks for writing this...

For those who RSS-feed or e-mail subscribe to this blog. You will need to adjust your feed to my new URL:
http://www.thevollmerfamily.com/MajorMom/
I'm not sure how many of my readers link to this site elsewhere, but you can save a few seconds if you change your link to the above URL. If you choose not to adjust your links, that's okay, I got the Blogspot page to automatically redirect, but it'll take 5-8 seconds or so.

Let the migration begin -- this week I will start migrating my blog to my own domain at http://bit.ly/9rzc6K. Time to flip to WordPress.
Science in action!
Because I don't have enough to do -- I've been spending the morning watching a pair of bald eagles at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. The previous female in this relationship was killed in Feb. 2011 by an airplane, so the male is now courting several females. This morning they caught footage of mating: https://picasaweb.google.com/106076466575367436243/NBG2012#5725686188166705778 (go to about 1:00 in the video).
It's also cool to watch the moderated chat, lots of classrooms are interacting w/ the Norfolk Botanical Garden moderator, asking so many great questions!
