Sorry, you can’t really call it “taking a walk” here.
The kids, Howie and I decided to take a hike along the Cottonwood Creek Trail, which runs southwestward from our neighborhood. Just a couple houses down from us is an access point between two houses to Colorado Springs’ expansive network of multi-use trails.
We figured it’d be a quick walk to Cottonwood Creek Park, which is a nice big park with baseball diamonds, a basketball court and several playground structures.
And it was a quick walk there.

It had rained pretty heavily that morning, so the creek was running more vigorously than it usually does in the summer.
The kids played for about 30 minutes at the park.
Then it was time to return.
Timmy and Howie were quite slow, while Jacob and I wanted to go faster. But we couldn’t.
So Jacob and I took our time and enjoyed the wildlife on the trail. We saw scrub jays, magpies, goldfinches, and a couple prairie falcons. We also saw so many swallows that seemed to want to dive bomb us. They get pretty territorial…
