25 July 22: After yesterday’s shenanigans, we have now figured out how public transportation is going to look from our apartment (numerous closures this week near us, both the S-Bahn and the trams are unavailable). We aren’t far from the Alexanderplatz train station, about 0.4km away.

Today we are taking our time getting ready and will take a midday train to the town of Wittenberg, to see the Schlosskirche where Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses, a milestone in establishing the Protestant church.

Dave and I walked to a local grocery this morning to pick up food for the apartment. As always, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the differences in foods (and prices) compared to other countries.

A view of the Hackescher Markt train station. Which is closed this week. Note the train bypassing the station…all of them are doing that.
There was a Tassimo machine in the Port en Bessin apartment and a Nespresso machine in the Paris apartment. To make the tiny coffees. Here in Berlin we have a good old fashioned Krups 10 c. machine…so here’s Dave picking out a good German ground coffee to use with it: Dallmayr Classic.
I love Smarties candies so much! They’re like M&Ms except the candy shells are much thicker and each color is uniquely flavored.

It was cool to see it as a yogurt mix-in!
