This is an emailed blog posting from my phone on the beach in Va Beach!

Let’s see if it works!

*Come on — those who know me KNOW that’s where I’d go!

Anyway, my new blog friend, Christina, has payed forward her “Excellent Blog Award” to none other than me…I am sincerely humbled by this, especially after yesterday’s somewhat-controversial post!

Thank you Christina — I’ll do my best to keep up with the high standards of this award and continue to reflect great credit upon the Ground Control to Major Mom Blog, Blogger.com, and the entire Blogosphere.

Back to resussitating my wireless router. CLEAR!

Hey — if anyone knows how I can break into the blog-format code so I can maximize the blank space on the left and right sides of my blog, please send me a note or leave me a comment. I’d be happy to send you the blog code and you can edit it for me.

I could be filling that space with so much more junky information, Air Force pitches, etc.

Ideally, I’d like a 3rd column on the left, the same width as the one on the right.

Thanks!

I put up a poll, and the people spoke.

Well, 8 of you spoke. Might have even been 6, since I voted on each of our computers.

But majority rules, and the ruling is that you liked the original template better. I have been looking for a format that will let me take advantage of the edges of my blog a little better.

Don, I like yours quite a bit, if I could tweak the colors some. Your information extends out to the edges of the screen.

Of course, if I were smarter in HTML, perhaps I could just get into the code, add a second “sidebar” and make the colors whatever I want.

Quick quiz! Name these colors! Just leave a comment with the answers. Maybe I’ll cut a portion of my ad earnings as a prize. Just the general hue, like “blue” or “red” or “green”:

1.) 0000FF
2.) 00FF00
3.) FF0000
4.) FF6FCF
5.) 6728B2
6.) FFFF00
7.) FFFFFF
8.) 000000

Remind me to post answers tomorrow.

The banana pudding was quite delightful, thank you. No, you may not have any…make your own! Just kidding — come on by and you can help me finish ours. I’m tempted to just grab a spoon and snuggle on the couch with the rest of the dish (which is about 3/4 of it!).

Also, Dave now has his own blog. I’ll be interested to see the wide range of topics he’ll discuss — it could be absolutely anything from model trains to home brewing to Scorer Parameters. Maybe I’ll embarass him with this picture.

Don’t ask what an Asshat is — it’s something that’s been coined in Model Railroading circles.

Dave’s been working on his new Blog, and we thought we could let his ride off a single GMail account but when he started editing “his” profile, mine changed.

Oops. As you can see above, I fixed my profile.

I get an e-mail that looks like this every night.

Is it Spam? (How many Nigerian millionaires ARE there who want to share their inheritances with me????”)

No no no…not spam at all. These are cool! This is my friend Maryann’s daily photo album and daily message. In fact, if you linked all these together…you’d have a BLOG!

Which is what she recently did — she and I set up our blogs on the same day, in fact!

This woman takes a LOT of pictures. I know many of you get my albums routinely and say “How the heck does Patricia get the time to take/upload/caption/transmit all those pictures????”

That’s only because you don’t know Maryann.

Some of you wonder “Where does Patricia have the energy to do all this stuff?”

That’s only because you don’t know Maryann.

Susan, if you’re reading this, you’re a close SECOND to Maryann!

Maryann has two sons like I do — our older boys are about a month apart in age, our younger ones are exactly 6 months apart. And they’re buddies!
Maryann: I raise my Frappuchino to you! I need the caffeine to keep up with you!

So…after all this time of enjoying other peoples’ blogs, Dave (my Weather Warrior husband) convinced me that setting up my own blog might be long overdue. After all, I’ve suggested other people start blogs, I’ve incessantly called Dave over to look at other people’s blogs, my sister has a really cool one (a plug for my sister: Living in the Material World!), etc.

Actually Dave put it this way: “You’re always sitting at that thing [the computer], I’m sure you have lots of things to put in a blog!”.

He’s right…I spend a LOT of time at the computer, and the efforts I’ve put into the wireless networking and file sharing in the house were all just so that I can continue to e-mail friends and surf the web while still being a decent mother. This meant not spending all my time in the computer room, instead putting our very old (circa 2000) laptop in the kitchen.

See on the counter on the left side of the picture? That’s the laptop, taking up valuable food preparation space.

Sometimes it’s good — many of the other neighborhood Moms will send out “Let’s go to the park” e-mails which I can receive quickly, sometimes it’s bad — letting the pasta overcook because I’m IMing a friend!

My point is: I did it — I set up a real blog, and my next task is to somehow link my Picasa albums so that I don’t have to duplicate efforts.
