We almost didn’t get a selfie yesterday! Dave saved the day at dinnertime.
We had a lazy Wednesday morning by the pool, then took an afternoon private boat tour around the island (in the lagoons between the barrier islands — the “motus” — and the main islands). Our boat captain, Sebastian, gave a lovely history of the island, the culture and traditions, and answered our bazillion questions about the weather, wildlife, and how things like water and electricity work on Bora Bora. We experienced some of the best snorkeling EVER in a lagoon near the northern end of the island.
Finally, we closed out the evening with a Polynesian dinner and dance show back at the resort.

A sampling of the breakfast options we had each morning. The glass jar has yogurt with Tahitian vanilla beans and local honey. This is how the honey is dispensed: the honeycomb is literally dripping into the dish. This sweet cat lives at the St. Regis. We have been enjoying it chase birds on the beach in the mornings.I’m sure many of you can guess my book here. This is Sebastian, who gave us a tour of the island. He was the happiest young man, and is a new Dad, which seemed to make him smile even more. He also told great stories about his celebrity interactions, like with Sylvester Stallone, Snoop Dogg, and Jason Momoa. My attempt at a windy selfie with that rainbow over my shoulder.
One of the photos from Sebastian of our snorkeling. I’ll save the other photos for a separate post. That’s the boat we were on, on the left, leaving after dropping us off back at the hotel. The clouds have been obscuring our views of sunrises and sunsets but this sure was pretty.
