23 July 22: So…what does “Free Day in Paris” look like? It started with a trip to Le Bon Marche department store<\/a>…one of the oldest in the world…except much of the store was closed, I think due to HVAC issues. So we were restricted to the food and alcohol sections only. I was able to pick up some souvenirs and we met a gentleman who used to do wine classes in the States, and helped us pick some good inexpensive wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Then Tim wanted to check out a McDonald’s<\/a> (he wants to try out McDonald’s in as many countries as possible) so we got our burgers, fries, and Heinekens for lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Dave<\/a> and I spent the afternoon at the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay<\/a>, and immersed ourselves in all the Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist art. We were there for about 2.5 hours and saw about half of the offerings…but we made sure to see the stuff that interested us the most. I should have foregone the Louvre in favor of seeing this entire museum, the Louvre was too overwhelming. The boys stayed closer to the apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will go out to one more nice dinner tonight…tomorrow we head to Berlin!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georges Seurat painted a number of scenes of Port en Bessin<\/a>, the town we stayed in during our Normandy visit. Remarkable how much the town still looks that way.
