The Standard Railroad of the World.
Ever wonder why I model what I do? I grew up on Long Island, whose LIRR was a longtime child of the Pennsylvania Railroad. My family is originally from Lancaster, PA, and so my formative years involved countless trips to Strasburg where I saw Pennsy steam in action (#1223 and #7002) as well as the big stuffed and mounted Pennsy behemoths across the street at the museum. I even have very faint memories of GG1s in use. Later, I went to Penn State and saw the Middle Division up close and personal, along with a trip or two to Altoona and Horseshoe Curve.
It's no wonder then that after several unfulfilling attempts to model freelance roads I eventually came to model America's Broad Way of Commerce, the Standard Railroad of the World…the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad.
A note to manufacturers and vendors… This Facebook site exists for me to share my model railroad and my love of the hobby. It isn't meant to be a free advertising platform. I will often post a link to a product I'm excited about, and I have personal friendships with a number of N scale manufacturers, but that's different than allowing everyone to advertise their own products here. I don't want to give the impression of my endorsement without consent. More importantly, I would appreciate the professional courtesy of prior coordination.
