from their trip. &nbsp;How could I say &#8220;No&#8221; to such a cute idea for a souvenir??? &nbsp;Dave and I had promised for months to &#8220;finish&#8221; the sticks and make them more permanent: sand them down and coat them <a href=\"http:\/\/www.minwax.com\/wood-products\/interior-clear-protective-finishes\/fast-drying-polyurethane.html\">with some polyurethane<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We even took the sticks with us to Colorado last August for <a href=\"http:\/\/vollmerdp.blogspot.com\/2010\/08\/colorado-discoveries-part-4-rocky.html\">hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park<\/a>!<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/FAbBq9GZmqBtR67m9atb1w?feat=embedwebsite\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/TGDU_yPubfI\/AAAAAAABIA0\/XknjvH97iZw\/s640\/IMG_3390.JPG\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>11 1\/2 months later, I finally finished this project. &nbsp;A camping trip to the Green Mountains next month inspired me to get this done. &nbsp;It was only the cost of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.minwax.com\/wood-products\/interior-clear-protective-finishes\/fast-drying-polyurethane.html\">polyurethane<\/a> and sandpaper. &nbsp;I fear they might outgrow these pretty quickly though.<\/p>\n<p>YES, we moved the sticks from Nebraska to here.<\/p>\n<table align=\"center\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"margin-left: auto;
