{"id":547,"date":"2011-04-22T02:09:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-22T02:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/2011\/04\/milspouse-friday-fill-in-38.html"},"modified":"2011-04-22T02:09:00","modified_gmt":"2011-04-22T02:09:00","slug":"milspouse-friday-fill-in-38","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/2011\/04\/milspouse-friday-fill-in-38.html","title":{"rendered":"MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #38"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wifeofasailor.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/milspouse-friday-fill-in.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"235\" src=\"http:\/\/wifeofasailor.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/milspouse-friday-fill-in.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;m excited I have time to fit this week&#8217;s &#8220;Friday Fill-In&#8221; into our crazy schedule! &nbsp;I&#8217;m attending the spouse&#8217;s part of a &#8220;Squadron Commander&#8217;s Course&#8221; all week with Dave. &nbsp;I&#8217;m very glad we chose to attend the local course here (he was also offered the chance to attend one at Langley AFB in Virginia); it&#8217;s been great meeting other commanders and their spouses that will be here for the next two years like us. <\/p>\n<p>(I&#8217;ll be writing more about the all-day tour I took of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afenlistedwidows.org\/\">Air Force Enlisted Village<\/a>, a multi-level care facility for widows of Air Force members. &nbsp;It&#8217;s worth sharing what a wonderful organization it is!)<\/p>\n<p><b>1. How many pets do you have? And what type?&nbsp;submitted by&nbsp;<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/brooklet425.blogspot.com\/\" style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><b>Life and Times of a Displaced Jersey Girl<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vollmerdp.blogspot.com\/2011\/02\/oops-he-did-it-again.html\">One dog, Howie<\/a>, and five male fancy guppies. &nbsp;Howie is our &#8220;first baby&#8221;, born in 2000. &nbsp;He&#8217;s celebrating his 11th birthday next weekend! It brings us such sadness that it isn&#8217;t certain whether he&#8217;ll be joining us at whatever assignment we have next (probably in 2013 sometime). &nbsp;As for the fish, that&#8217;s just a fun diversion for the boys.<\/p>\n<p><b>2. What are your favorite projects to do while hubby is away?&nbsp;submitted by&nbsp;<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/my-inspired-nest.blogspot.com\/\" style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><b>my-inspired-nest<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I get to take over the house with <a href=\"http:\/\/vollmerdp.blogspot.com\/2010\/09\/thomas-themed-scrapbook-really-yes.html\">SCRAPBOOKING<\/a> while Dave is away. &nbsp;I&#8217;ve been slow to break out my stuff here, but maybe this summer I&#8217;ll get my mojo back&#8230;Timmy still needs a &#8220;first year&#8221; scrapbook!<\/p>\n<p><b>3. What are the must-haves in your deployment care packages?&nbsp;&nbsp;submitted by&nbsp;<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/christinestanley.blogspot.com\/\" style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><b>Christine\u2019s Little Blog<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2ndwsspouse.blogspot.com\/2009\/11\/operation-remote-christmas-packing.html\">I had the honor of helping run a mass-production line of care packages<\/a> for all the deployed members of my husband&#8217;s organization in 2009. &nbsp;Based on my experience, the following items were the most popular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tabloid magazines, muscle car\/bodybuilding magazines, video gaming\/computer geek magazines<\/li>\n<li>Single-serving beverage powders<\/li>\n<li>Snacks that won&#8217;t perish\/melt\/crush in transit, such as marshmallow treats, nuts, dried fruits, individually wrapped hard candy<\/li>\n<li>New release paperback books<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>4. If you could star in any TV show, which would it be? submitted by&nbsp;<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/justagirl623.blogspot.com\/\" style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><b>Just a Girl<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d want to star on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbs.com\/primetime\/big_bang_theory\">Big Bang Theory<\/a>! &nbsp;Try to be one of Dr. Sheldon Cooper&#8217;s many many nemeses!<\/p>\n<p><b>5.
