I attempted it earlier this month without the self-rising flour and it was not quite what we were expecting. I don&#8217;t even think I posted about it, it was so disasterous.<\/p>\n<p>So this week I picked up a small bag of self-rising flour (I&#8217;d never purchased it before) and tried it again. It was a hit! I used the remainder of my frozen blackberries from when I went pickin&#8217; in June, plus a cup-or-so of frozen blueberries from the same trip.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bp1.blogger.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/R5QPUf6GwJI\/AAAAAAAAK8E\/WkklQ7cEIQw\/s1600-h\/IMG_5170.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" border=\"0\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_\" src=\"http:\/\/bp1.blogger.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/R5QPUf6GwJI\/AAAAAAAAK8E\/WkklQ7cEIQw\/s320\/IMG_5170.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>In the Oven&#8230;looks just like hers (the cobbler, not the oven &#8212; don&#8217;t look at the oven), doesn&#8217;t it?<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bp0.blogger.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/R5QPVP6GwKI\/AAAAAAAAK8M\/xIR87EuG06A\/s1600-h\/IMG_5171.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" border=\"0\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_\" src=\"http:\/\/bp0.blogger.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/R5QPVP6GwKI\/AAAAAAAAK8M\/xIR87EuG06A\/s320\/IMG_5171.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>However, unlike hers, the batter on the edges began rising so high, it enveloped the fruit almost entirely.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/R5QPVv6GwLI\/AAAAAAAAK8U\/7NyisGe8i1o\/s1600-h\/IMG_5172.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" border=\"0\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_\" src=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_yz59FVsseJY\/R5QPVv6GwLI\/AAAAAAAAK8U\/7NyisGe8i1o\/s320\/IMG_5172.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>The edges browned quite a bit before the center had a chance to set. You like my Pooh Bear potholder? I do. I like how he&#8217;s staring at the cobbler, looking a bit puzzled. I have placemats &amp; napkins to match. I think it&#8217;s the only thing I&#8217;ve ever purchased from Stein Mart&#8230;Beavercreek, OH, circa 2000. And it was quite the winner in the Vollmer house yesterday and today&#8230;and probably tomorrow too.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;\">I have just enough frozen blueberries left to attempt <a href=\"http:\/\/thepioneerwomancooks.com\/2007\/08\/the_great_cobbl-2.html\">PW&#8217;s Blackberry Cobbler #2 <\/a>sometime. That one seems to take a bit more skill &#8212; not every recipe requires a <a href=\"http:\/\/us.microplane.com\/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&amp;ProdID=86\">Microplane<\/a>, after all.
