The Colorado Convention Center is Denver is famous for the giant blue bear peering inside.<\/p><\/div>\n

My family had the chance to attend Denver Comic Con<\/a>* this past Memorial Day weekend with\u00a0family press passes I obtained through my association with GeekMom, a $150 value. This fact that the organization offered complimentary admission to our entire family is a testament to what a family-friendly experience this particular Comic Con is trying to maintain: children’s admission<\/a> was only $5 per day and $10 for the entire event.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the press passes were interview opportunities with the celebrities and comic book artists. Interviews are\u00a0not<\/em> my strong suit but I did my best.<\/p>\n

Because DCC provided complimentary admission, I made sure\u00a0the timely writing about the event was posted to GeekMom first back in June, but I figured I’d summarize all the posts here and then share the full photo album.<\/p>\n

  1. The Denver Comic Con “Storify”<\/a>. Storify is a website with which you can stitch together information from various instant social media outlets to summarize one’s experience. I used a Storify to put together all the Tweets I had sent that were shared on my own<\/a> and GeekMom’s feed<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Denver Comic Con Family Cosplay<\/a>. This was a summary of the fun family-themed costumes at DCC. I remember seeing only our family and a Harry Potter-themed family group at Dragon*Con in 2012. At DCC there were dozens upon dozens of families.<\/li>\n
  3. Denver Comic Con Large Panel Experience<\/a>. I did something very daring and brought our family to the largest, most popular panels at DCC: The “Animaniacs<\/em> Sing Along” and “Weird Science<\/em> 30th Anniversary Reunion.”<\/li>\n
  4. DCC’s Animaniacs<\/em> Sing-Along<\/a>. Boy was this fun! We had introduced our sons to Wakko, Yakko, and Dot a few years ago and they were able to join in with the crowd as we sang some of our favorites, such as the “Alphabet Song” and the theme from Animaniacs<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  5. Interview with DC Comics Writers Jimmy Palmiotti & Amanda Conner<\/a>. The authors of the DC Comics Harley Quinn<\/em> reboot are one of the most darling couples in the comic book industry right now, and I had a great time learning more about their imaginative ideas behind both Harley Quinn<\/em> and the newly-reimagined Starfire<\/em>. There were scores of Harley Quinn cosplayers and I captured several for a “Gang of Harleys” for this post.<\/li>\n
  6. Interview with Gotham Academy’s<\/em> Becky Cloonan<\/a>. Gotham Academy is DC Comics young-adult series that offers a Harry Potter-esque story of students in a boarding school embarking in adventures that run in parallel to the classic DC Comics story arcs, such as in Batman.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I’ll close with this photo album from our weekend. This is a combination of iPhone and Nikon photos. There aren’t any captions in the album at the moment, but I’ll add them in later this week.<\/p>\n
