It was so warm, Dave could ski in shorts…well, sort of…<\/p><\/div>\n

On our first full day in Park City, we decided to check out the Park City Ski Resort, which was just a couple blocks from our condo. We took advantage of a military deal for the resort, although being one of the Vail Resorts, it was still pretty costly<\/a>, even for end-of-season conditions.<\/p>\n

It was quite warm, with highs in the 60s and blue sunny skies.<\/p>\n

As a consequence, there weren’t many trails open, and we had numerous detours. We’re grateful the boys were skilled enough to negotiate some of the detours.<\/p>\n

Skiing at Park City at the end of March was like skiing on the East Coast. Icy. Jacob and Timmy are obviously spoiled rotten skiing in Colorado because they had a very hard time with the changed snow conditions. They didn’t have the best day.<\/p>\n

While at the resort, we skied\u00a0to the Mid-Mountain Lodge, which is right on the mountain, for lunch. We didn’t stay long: lunches were $15-20 per person! I think the “side of potato chips” for $4.95 is what turned off Dave the most. We knew Park City would be on the expensive side, but holy crow!<\/p>\n

We decided to attempt the trails down to the “Town Lift” which I had mentioned at the end of my\u00a0last Utah blog post<\/a>. It wasn’t easy, but the kids made it. Timmy was having a tough day until he saw the view of the town from high up on the mountain. He suddenly got his groove back:<\/p>\n

Jacob was quite frustrated with the snow conditions, but really enjoyed the “Town Trails” that took you into downtown Park City.<\/p><\/div>\n

We skied into town and enjoyed lunch at a diner-type restaurant called “The Bridge” since it was next to the pedestrian bridge<\/a>. Many of the meals on the menu had a Brazilian theme, but it also offered omelettes, pancakes, and brunch-type foods. The four of us could have lunch for closer to $10 per person…phew!<\/p>\n

We skied for just a couple more hours after lunch, before frustration at the warm conditions took over: Timmy and I decided to check out the Alpine Coaster (for my next post) and Dave and Jacob did a little bit more skiing. We decided to check out Alta resort later in the week…the next canyon over.<\/p>\n
