{"id":1032,"date":"2012-05-16T23:30:59","date_gmt":"2012-05-17T04:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/?p=1032"},"modified":"2012-05-16T23:30:59","modified_gmt":"2012-05-17T04:30:59","slug":"seen-at-the-offutt-field-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/2012\/05\/seen-at-the-offutt-field-house.html","title":{"rendered":"Seen at the Offutt Field House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"The Offutt Field House\" src=\"http:\/\/25.media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_lo16y57zpa1qdd0ovo1_500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.offutt55fss.com\/recreation\/fitness.html\"> The Offutt Field House<\/a>. \u00a0It was my second home when we were living in Omaha. \u00a0It seemed to be a shorter drive from our house in Nebraska to the Offutt Field House than our current drive from our house to the neighborhood community center&#8217;s gym.<\/p>\n<p>The Field House is one of the largest gyms in the Air Force. \u00a0It is a converted aircraft hangar and even with everything in the fitness center, there are still large parts of the same building dedicated to other missions. \u00a0The Field House has several basketball and volleyball courts, three tennis courts, a 0.4 mile running track, a soccer pitch, indoor golf driving range training cages, several cardio training areas, several weight training areas (both free weights and machines) and even a kid-friendly area where parents can do both cardio and weight training on the perimeter of a full-sized playground structure.<\/p>\n<p>I was half-marathon training on my last visit to Nebraska in January so I was running outside, and I wasn&#8217;t in Nebraska on my previous Air Force Reserve stint. \u00a0So I hadn&#8217;t set foot in the Field House since last September.<\/p>\n<p>There were some pretty significant changes after not having visited for 7 months.<\/p>\n<p>There are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fathead.com\/\">Fathead wall decals<\/a> throughout the facility now. \u00a0I hope those were donated to the Field House and not purchased with government funds.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1033\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/IMG_3361.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1033\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1033\" title=\"IMG_3361\" src=\"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/IMG_3361-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"472\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/IMG_3361-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/thevollmerfamily.com\/MajorMom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/IMG_3361-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1033\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This huge Crossfit gym appeared. It&#39;s now the Offutt Combatives Club training area.  There is also space for MMA training.  Boy, times have changed. This is Troy Palomalu (from his USC days). To the right of him is Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers.
